TEHRAN -- Iranian youth outshined China Sunday in the final of the 14th Asian Junior Men's Volleyball Championship, held in Tehran on August 22-31, to secure first place in Asia.
The competitions were held at which 13 Asian junior volleyball teams had taken part in order to qualify for the 2009 world junior volleyball championship.
Last year, Iranian youngsters were also the Asian champions.
President Mahmud Ahmadinejad’s sports adviser and chief of Physical Education Organization (PEO) Mohammad Aliabadi viewed the final game with many other national dignitaries.
Thirteen countries have participated in the nine-day event that was hosted by Iran.
The Iranian side qualifies for the World Youth Volleyball Championships to be held in Italy next year, as both the winner and the runner-up of the Asian tournament are guaranteed a place.
